Money Smart

Money Smart is a financial education curriculum designed to help low- and moderate-income individuals outside the financial mainstream enhance their financial skills and create positive banking relationships. Through partnerships with schools, literacy centers, and community organizations, the Rotary Club of Greenville established Money Smart with a mission to empower our community with the basic tools necessary to take control of their financial situation.

Using a curriculum developed and regularly updated by the FDIC, Money Smart has reached over 2.75 million consumers since 2001. Our Rotary Club provides Money Smart classes several times per year in the form of an 8-week series that meets for 1 hour per week. Each week, our Rotary Club volunteers lead a different topic with the help of a comprehensive, fully-scripted guide for instructors. The guide includes everything necessary to start teaching the program, including easy-to-follow cues, script, and interactive class exercises. The broad range of topics covers banking, budgeting, credit, loans, and consumer rights.

Financial education fosters financial stability for individuals, families, and entire communities. The more people know about credit and banking services, the more likely they are to increase savings, buy homes, and improve their financial health and well-being. The Rotary Club of Greenville is dedicated to improving financial literacy through the Money Smart program.
