Here’s a short description of the function of each Committee of the Rotary Club of Greenville
Club Administration
- Pre-Meeting Functions: Responsible for management of activities before club meetings
- Sergeant at Arms: Coordinate and assist at regular meetings with logistics, seating, and other details necessary to make meetings run smoothly
- Luncheons: Manage check-in and recording of attendance of members, visiting Rotarians and guests
- Greeter: Welcome Rotarians and Guests and assisting Rotarians as they arrive at the club meeting
- Meetings: Responsible for management of club meetings
- Audio/Visual Support: Provide for speakers’ specific A/V needs at meetings (AV equipment, etc.). Coordinate with Rotary Office and the Westin Poinsett Hotel to ensure appropriate equipment and setups are arranged. Be on-site to check out equipment prior to start of meeting.
- Chaplain: Provide invocation and lead the Pledge of Allegiance at regular meetings
- Member News: Gather and share news of members’ personal/health issues, accomplishments, and other information through the Bulletin, Website and announcements at regular meetings
- Technology: Leverage technology to support the administration of the club and promote communication with and among club members. Support the club’s technology needs, including office systems and equipment, web resources, member data, attendance management and other means by which technology can further the mission of the club
- Finance/Budget: Work with President, President-Elect and Treasurer to develop the budget for the Rotary Club of Greenville
- Health & Happiness: Promote acquaintance and friendship among members, promote participation in Rotary activities and organize regular “Health & Happiness” after-hours social events of the club.
- Programs: Prepare and arrange programs for regular meetings, including selecting and securing speakers as well as gathering advance information (biography, photo, topic) and arranging for speakers’ specific needs at the meeting (AV equipment, etc.)
Membership
- Recruitment Initiatives: Provide support and opportunities for new members to engage with the activities, events and service opportunities of the club
- Recruitment Committee: Promote new member recruitment and active participation in recruiting among club members. Increase the membership of the club by increasing the quality and quantity of prospective members, i.e. “fill the pipeline”. In addition, implement Rotary awareness programs targeted to selected local professional organizations, businesses, and non-profits.
- Diversity for Rotary: Increase the ethnic, gender and racial diversity of the club. Retain and engage members of underrepresented groups in leadership roles in the club. Foster an atmosphere of inclusion and admiration for the value that diversity brings. Attract and maintain a healthy membership that reflects the diversity of the Greenville Community and regularly participates in club activities.
- Discover Rotary: Support new member recruitment with informative events for prospective members introducing them to Rotary International and local club membership.
- New Member Development Initiatives: Provide support and opportunities for new members to engage with the activities, events and service opportunities of the club
- New Member Welcoming Committee: Ensure a smooth introduction to the organization and provide a positive first impression by overseeing the Mentor responsibilities and guidance of new members through their first year of service.
- New Member Orientation: Orient new members to the privileges and responsibility of first-year membership and proactively seek to engage new members in the activities of the club
- Retention & Satisfaction Initiatives: Promote member attendance, involvement and retention. Encourage attendance at all regular meetings, District Conferences and International Conventions. Keep all members informed of attendance requirements and promote makeup attendance at other clubs and/or Rotary committees/events
- Attendance: Monitor member participation in club activities as a metric of engagement. Encourage attendance at all regular meetings, District Conferences and International Conventions. - Satisfaction & Retention: Assess member satisfaction with an annual member satisfaction questionnaire and resigning member questionnaire and develop recommendations for improvement.
- Club Leadership Development: Proactively select, train and develop future club leaders. Identify potential club leaders through development of leadership programs to educate and train for future leadership positions. Offer members opportunities to interface with Rotary leaders.
Communications (Public Relations)
- Historian/Archivist: Work on continued development of club history and evaluate archives for historical significance. Capture and retain descriptions, photos and videos of club events throughout the year and produce an Annual Report on club accomplishments within 90 days of the end of the Rotary Year.
- Bulletin: Publish highlights from previous meeting, announce upcoming program, and promote attendance, fellowship and education about local club and Rotary International activities
- Photographer: Photograph (or arrange for someone to photograph) all club meetings and events. Upload photos to “Photo Gallery” page of the website.
- Website:: Responsible for the redesign of the current club website and continued maintenance of the website, including updating content
Vocational Service Projects
- Career Day: Plan, publicize, execute and evaluate the club’s annual Career Day
- Law Enforcement Recognition: Plan, publicize, execute and evaluate the club’s annual Law Day recognition program
- Teacher Recognition: Plan, publicize, execute and evaluate the club’s support of and participation in the Greenville County Teacher of the Year project
- Salute to Education: Plan, publicize, execute and evaluate the club’s support of and participation in the annual Salute to Education banquet
- Technology Careers/Science Fair: Plan, publicize, execute and evaluate the club’s support of and participation of student mentoring and awareness of Technology careers. Support the annual SC Upstate Science and Engineering Academic Competition
- Scholarships: Plan, publicize, execute and evaluate the club’s support of and participation in our club’s college scholarship awards
- Rotary Family Literacy Center: Plan, publicize, execute and evaluate the club’s support of and participation in the Rotary Family Literacy Center at the YWCA
- Read to Me: Plan, publicize, execute and evaluate the club’s support of and participation in the “Read to Me” project.
- International Service: Plan, publicize, execute and evaluate the club’s support of and participation in International Projects sponsored by our club.
- EarlyAct FirstKnight:: Themed around gallant knights and Rotarian values, this proprietary program is sponsored by Rotary clubs for local schools. EAFK teaches students how to become noble, service oriented people along with why it is important for them to do so. EAFK is amazingly effective, with 100% of participating schools crediting the program with significantly increased academic scores, decreased behavioral issues, more teaching time and happier teachers and parents. A program has been established at Lead Academy and Alexander Elementary School.
- CART (Coins for Alzheimer’s Research Trust): Plan, publicize, execute and evaluate the club’s support of CART
Youth Services
- Rotaract at Greenville Technical College: Plan, publicize, execute and evaluate the club’s support of the Rotaract Club at Greenville Tech. Help the faculty representative plan and execute the goals for the school year. Generate club volunteers for fundraising projects and evaluate the club’s support of this program. Encourage club members to attend meetings, Rotary Leadership Institute, and any other related Rotaract activities within the District.
- Interact: Plan, publicize, execute and evaluate the club’s support of the Interact Club at Greenville High School. Help the faculty representative plan and execute the goals for the school year. Generate club volunteers for fundraising projects and evaluate the club’s support of this program.
- Youth Leadership (RYLA): Plan, publicize, execute and evaluate the club’s support of and participation in the District Youth Leadership project
- Holiday Lights: Plan, publicize, execute and evaluate the club’s support of and participation in the Holiday Lights project
Rotary Foundation
- PolioPlus: Bring Rotary International’s End Polio Now campaign to the local level by informing members of the Rotary Club of Greenville about the efforts of Rotary International to eradicate polio, by developing strategies for raising funds for the Rotary Club of Greenville’s contribution to Polio Plus
- Paul Harris Fellows: Promote Annual Giving to the Rotary Foundation(EREY, Sustaining Members, PHF)
Other Committees
- Long Range Planning: Develop, maintain and update the club’s Strategic Plan, providing a consistent vision and mission for the club as guidance for current and future Presidents, Officers and Directors.
