Mark and Ryan Johnston to Speak on the Future of Journalism–July 23, 2019

Mark B. Johnston is president, CEO and co-founder of Community Journals. Mr. Johnston began his newspaper career in 1982. He has worked at the Kansas City Star as a business product manager and later as a retail advertising manager, Suburban Journals of Greater St. Louis as director of marketing and The Greenville News as the vice president of advertising. Johnston left the News in 1999 to develop the current metro-wide weekly Journal model and the Greenville Journal. The Greenville Journal is now one of the largest, privately owned, community weekly newspapers and digital content distribution platforms in the country with a weekly circulation of 35,000.

Ryan Johnston has launched start-ups or provided start-up consultation since 2002. He joined Upstate Business Journal in 2012 as publisher. From 2016 to 2018 he simultaneously worked as the Managing Director at 6AM City and Upstate Business Journal. At 6AM City Ryan is responsible for overall company product and growth strategy. Current markets include GVLtoday, COLAtoday, AVLtoday, CHStoday, NOOGAtoday, and LALtoday.
