Law Enforcement Appreciation Day

Since 1976, the Rotary Club of Greenville has partnered with law enforcement agencies in the Greenville County to honor the work, dedication, and sacrifice of law enforcement in Greenville County and to recognize contributions of these officers in ensuring the safety, well-being, and quality of life in Upstate South Carolina. Law Enforcement Appreciation Day is held annually during which three outstanding law enforcement officers are recognized, and a distinguished leader from within the law enforcement and/or justice system is selected to speak . Awards include the Rotary Deputy of the Year- Greenville County Sheriff’s Office; Rotary Officer of the Year-City of Greenville Police Department; and Federal Law Enforcement Officer of the Year. The Solicitor, judges, and other law enforcement leaders from all levels are invited to attend this special event. Since the first award was given to a Greenville City Police officer in 1976, 39 officers have been honored. Since the first award was given to the a deputy from the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office in 1988, 26 awards have been presented. Since 2000 when the first award for a Federal Law Enforcement Officer based in Greenville County was given, 15 federal law enforcement officers have been recognized.
